Siderurgy / Metallurgy

The term “siderurgy” covers the techniques for obtaining cast iron, iron and steel from iron ore; as well as the industry that uses them.

The creation of the term Siderurgy was linked to the need to distinguish ferrous metallurgy from the wider field of metallurgy in general

Metallurgy is the science of materials that studies metals and their processing, properties and treatment.

By extension, we also use this name for the industry that makes metals and alloys that are dependent on the use of this
science
